I had the great pleasure of having Roger Therriault as a dog trainer for our high energy and hard headed puppy, named Buddy. I started with another trainer that was highly recommended, but after numerous lessons we were not progressing and that trainer believed in rewarding with treats. In order to get our puppy to respond, I would have had to wear a horse bag around my neck, all day, full of treats, to get Buddy to respond to just the basic of commands.

Roger scheduled a first consultation and lesson; it lasted about two hours. I was immediately impressed how Roger communicated and related to Buddy and Buddy to him. It was totally incredible to watch as Roger taught and Buddy obeyed and in a very short amount of time and without treats. We immediately scheduled for other lessons.

Roger was always open with what he wanted to accomplish and his expectations, not only with our dog,  but with us as well. We were skeptical, in the beginning, with the promises Roger made but were pleasantly surprised that he met each promise and in many situations exceeded those promises.

Roger never progressed until he knew you understood the previous lessons and showed that you were capable of executing those lessons with your dog. Roger was always patient not only with our dog but with us as well. He was always available for our concerns and questions and very open with everything he was doing and how it would effect our dog.

We have had several trainers through our life time and I am pleased to say Roger is the very best. We are so thrilled we have finally found someone who can train our dog effectively and successfully. We are so impressed with Roger’s knowledge, abilities and all that he accomplished with our dog and in a relative short period of time. We also appreciate that once the lessons were over that Roger still makes himself available  for any questions or situations that arise with owning a dog.

We whole heartedly recommend Roger to anyone who is seeking a trainer that can accomplish incredible results with dog training!

Yoshi’s Dog School with the Master Trainer, Roger Therriault, was the best decision I ever made. I had Beamer our Doberman Pincher for three years before sending her to Roger. As a puppy, we took her to Petsmart Training for the three stages they offer and was not satisfied with the outcome. Beamer knew her manners but was lazy, stubborn, and selective in what she wanted to do. Another key problem we had with Beamer was the fear of letting her off the leash and her running away. She would get out of the yard and it would be an endless battle until she came back.  Another problem we had was that Beamer is a very intelligent dog and would try and punish us by acting out. She would pee, get into food in the pantry, table, or kitchen counters.

After sending her to Roger for 12 days, she came back a complete dog. She does everything on and off the leash, great manners all around, we could not be happier with the results we received. Once we got her back, all our neighbors were thrilled, shocked, and surprised at the transformation. Roger does exactly what he says he is going to do. Rogers guarantee of giving you “freedom through control” is accurate. We have had our dog back for about four months and we successfully have gone to the beaches, parks, runs, camping, and events where we have the collar on but do not need it. He has given us the control we need through obedience.

Roger guarantees that the chewing and other behavioral problems stop after obedience, this is correct! Beamer tried a couple times to get into things but with the proper way of handling it a couple times, the problem is solved. The methods he uses of nurture over nature, positive attitudes when disciplining, and believing the dogs can do what we ask really have made a difference.

I thought that with her age being 3 she was set in her ways, Roger is a trainer who made it happen. My boyfriend referred me to him and every time we take the dogs out we always have compliments on how well they behave and what was our secret, it is Roger. We should have done it sooner and saved lots of money!

It is with great pride that I write this letter of recommendation for Roger Therriault and Yoshi’s dog school. His work with our one year old Rhodesian Ridgeback, Rosco, has been nothing short of remarkable.   The results have been incredible and the investment we made in the In-House Training service has returned many times over.

We were struggling with Rosco a lot when we met Roger. He was becoming more independent, destructive and defiant by the day. As he was growing into a tall and strong dog we were becoming more and more concerned with curbing his behavior. We tried reading books on training as well as taking group classes but it was clear we were over our head as the negative behavioral trends continued to get worse.   We knew we needed the help of an expert and luckily we found Roger.

After an initial consultation with Roger we determined the best route to take was the In-House training service. The two weeks without Rosco went by quickly and Roger kept us up to date on his progress via email and picture message. We anxiously awaited the return of our dog and couldn’t believe what we saw in the obedience demonstration displayed upon his homecoming.

A dog that previously couldn’t be trusted inside was completely off leash and obedient. His willingness to be and stay obedient was hard to believe even though I was seeing it with my own eyes. It quickly became apparent that the dog’s portion of the training had finished and now it was our turn to learn.

The lessons offered in the second phase of the In-House Training services were where we really got the value. Roger slowly and easily assisted us through the process of managing our dog’s new obedience talents. These lessons helped us understand the dog’s way of processing information and equipped us to conquer challenges with him in the future.

It is no exaggeration to say Roger changed our life, and our dog’s for the better. I highly recommend his training service and would be happy to discuss more if you have any questions.
